Registration centers are locations where testing for mutation and registration into the MRA Database is possible. They are typically housed in DMVs and BMVs and are now equipped with QuikID technology, making testing both fast and accurate.

History[]

The first mutant registration centers opened in 14 major cities (including New York) on August 9, 2005. Their establishment was provided for the legislation surrounding Voluntary Registration, which also created the guidelines for the creation, maintenance, and use of the Mutant Registration Database.

At the time, Warren Worthington had established a number of mutant safehouses, which also serve as registration centers. No one was able to use any of the safehouses' facilities or services without first registering themselves as a mutant.

In 2006, Mandatory Registration meant that there was an explosion in the need for registration centers, and dozens more were opened across the country in short order. At the time, they were equipped with cutting-edge technology which could test a blood sample for the X-Factor in 6 to 8 hours. This equipment was cheap, fast, and easy to produce in bulk, enabling the quick establishment of hundreds of registration centers by the time the law came into effect.

After Mandatory Registration was declared unconstitutional in March 2007, a number of registration centers were shut down. Today, there are several hundred across the United States, with at least one in each State.

Since the summer of 2008, registration centers have been equipped with QuikID, making testing almost instantaneous.
